Cleaning Up

I spent a good portion of yesterday afternoon and evening cleaning up my Sewing Room.  Things had gotten a little out of control in there :)  I figured I best take a picture of it looking all nice and organized because I am pretty sure it won't stay this way for to long ;)

Yes, I know I should have shot a before picture, but I "conveniently forgot".

Most of my time was spent rearranging the fabric.  I had to do a lot of refolding and then I switched things around a bit to make it a little more convenient to get to.  I am so happy with how it turned out ;)   (Sorry about the flash reflection, the joys of sewing in the basement with no windows ;)

Now I just want to get in here and start sewing but it will have to wait because today starts Spring Break!!!  It's going to be a bit crazy but I am sure it will be fun ;)

  1. Your studio looks so sparkling clean! I look around mine and can't see the desk for bags of fabric, quilts on the floor, bolts of fabric in the corner, oh the mess just goes on and on!

  4. Your room looks so tidy! I would "conveniently forget" to take a before photo of my room, too, because right now I'm stepping over things to reach my sewing machine. :0)

  5. I just did this with my stash and supplies as well! It's like my space doubled now that there aren't random piles of scraps in every cubby!

  6. is that really ALL your fabric? sure you're not hiding a big stash somewhere?

  7. I love your setup, nice and organized. I was thinking of doing a wall mounted cabinet to add storage without taking up more floor space.

  11. Love it! My studio has windows, but I nearly can't get to them for the piles. /sigh. But clean-up may have to wait until after Spring Market. Hope y'all have a lovely restful spring break!!

  15. I always like the day that it's tidy, then spend about a week not wanting to get it messy again, and then I throw caution to the wind for the next, err, 6 months or so ;o)

  16. Rosemary B here:
Melissa, this is way to neat and tidy. It makes my office look like an explosion occurred
....and I cannot shut the doors -- (no doors) as it is the huge sun room right next to my other office: the kitchen. So, I guess I will be tidying tomorrow. I want my office to look this good.
    This looks wonderful.
I love the walls yippee skippie! Purple!

  18. If mine looked like that, I'd have to throw out 3/4 of the stuff that's there!
Nice job though--looks lovely and inviting!

  20. It looks great! I'd love to be sewing in the basement with no windows...now I sew at the kitchen table and put everything away at the end of every sewing session. Well, mostly...sometimes it just becomes piles on the counter for a while! Our spring break starts now too. Ah, the joys of not setting the alarm for 10 whole days! And sewing during the day! Whoo hoo!

  21. Your sewing room looks so lovely! I love the purple walls. :) We are finishing our basement, so I am moving my makeshift sewing space with bare sheet rocked walls into a finished sewing room with a closet and paint on the walls! I'm thinking about painting my walls a really neutral light purpley-grey color, but I'm afraid to commit! But your walls look so nice, I think I'll take the plunge!

  24. Beautiful. I always try to clean my windows once every few weeks. They have a tendency to get very dirty fast.
