Piece and Quilt Sampler - Are You Ready???

It's time to get all your supplies for the  Piece and Quilt Sampler Quilt Along ;)   This super fun Quilt Along will start on April 15th, so grab Your Fabrics  and your copy of Celebrate with Quilts and get ready for a year full of fun making gorgeous blocks with lots of quilt friends!!!

My plan is to use a  Rainbow of Bloom Ombre goodness!!!  Aren't those fabrics just so pretty, and when I open them up, I get even more colors, so great!!!   I plan to do a diagonal rainbow of Ombre goodness, and am using Half Yard Cuts in 18 different shades and dividing them into 7 color groupings, with  White Paper Grunge as the background.

The quilt finishes at 72" x 91".   The "quilt along" version is being done in Shoreline by Camille Roskelley and there are Sampler Kits that will be available soon if you want to make yours in this same layout.   But of course, you can use any fabrics, just grab a big ol' stack of Fat Quarters and you will be good to go!!!

And now, it's time for lots and lots of cutting so I will be ready for the start next month.

So how about you . . . Want to join in the Piece and Quilt Fun??   The Block Sharing starts on April 15th so there is still plenty of time to get ready.   It is going to be so much fun!!

Thanks for popping in today and I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!

More Charming Totes from More Charming Young Women

So I was going through my camera roll the other day and realized I missed posting some very important finishes!!!!   Way back in 2017 I posted some adorable Charming Totes made by some adorable Young Women in our church :)  And when I was going through my film roll, I realized I never posted the next group of girls and their finishes from last year.  So today I am going to share them!!    One night a month, for several months, I taught these amazing girls how to make Charming Totes.    Each girl (including 2 of my own) picked their own charm pack and then cut, stitched and quilted!  For a few of them, it was their first time using a sewing machine, and they all did great!!!  So lets see their finishes!!!

Jocelyn (my baby girl)  used Mama's Cottage by April Rosenthal for Moda Fabrics

Kamryn (my girl who just got her learner's permit!!) used Seaside by Tasha Noel for Riley Blake.

Maren used Just Another Walk in the Woods by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda

Bristol used all of the extra charms from everyone's totes and made a scrappy one, so cute!!

Sierra used Badda Bing by Me and My Sister Designs for Moda

Addy used Fairy Edith by Amanda Castor for Riley Blake Designs

Rosie used Flora and Fawn by Amanda Herring for Riley Blake Designs.

Emmy used Harmony by Sweetwater for Moda

Didn't they all do such a great job!!!  I just love them, and it really was so fun to see them grow in confidence in front of a sewing machine.   To the point where they were super excited to try the long arm, so great!!!    Way to go girls!!!

And just FYI,  if you want to make your own Charming Tote, I have a free Step by Step tutorial right over here ;)  You just need a Charm Pack and 2/3 yard of fabric to start!!  They are so much fun to make and are wonderful Christmas presents.  But I am warning you, you can't stop at making just 1 :)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!!

GO! Spring Stars Sprung Quilt and Free Pattern!!!

I am so excited to share a new finish today!!! Doesn't it make you just get excited for Spring to be on its way!!!   I just love combining AccuQuilt BOB Dies and when the new new GO! Star and Cross Die, was released, I knew it would pair perfectly with the Rising Star and Mosaic 4 BOB Dies ;)   I mean, who doesn't love all the stars!!!    And with it's happy colors, I named it Spring Stars Sprung!!!  And there is a  free PDF Pattern for it, that you can download right here :)

I used some beautiful Grunge Prints in  Duchess, Decadent, Raspberry and Kraft.  My inspiration for the colors was a Cherry Blossom tree, it really doesn't get more spring than that, right ;)   And isn't it just so fun how that Decadent lime green print just pops!!  You can never go wrong with Grunge :)

The Pineapple Lemonade Quilt finishes at 50" x 50" so it is a great lap size quilt.   It uses 3 blocks, and of course, cutting them with the AccuQuilt BOB Dies makes it super fast.   Then it was just super happy piecing from that point.   And the layout of the blocks adds a bunch of fun secondary designs that I just love.

Below is a list of the dies I used, see which ones you already have in your die library and maybe add a few more ;)

And when it came time to quilt it, I wanted to do something with lots of curves and flow to accent all of the points in the piecing.   So I opted for a large loose feather, and then I went back and echoed it.  I just love how it looks like spring vines growing across the quilts.   Just so pretty!!!

And that is my  Spring Stars Sprung Quilt.   I hope you love it as much as I do ;)   Isn't this picture AccuQuilt took of it just so great!!!  I love seeing it styled in a home setting.    And if you want to make your own, you can download the free PDF Spring Stars Sprung Quilt Pattern Here.   And when you are done I would love to see it!!!    You can share a picture on social media with #happyquiltingwithmc and tag me at @happyquiltingmc or you can always email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com.  I can't wait to see your Spring Stars Sprung Quilts!!!

Oh, and fun little side note . . . if you want to see this shared on YouTube, you can visit the Die Launch video.  It is shared towards the end of the show at 52:55 minutes in :)  It is just so fun to see your projects loved so much, just makes me smile.

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!

Vintage Sunburst QAL - Month 3

It's Month 3 of the  Vintage Sunburst Quilt Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop and I have 4 more blocks to share for this month. I just love seeing these blocks come together!!!

Here are my 2 blocks made with the  8" Vintage Sunburst Paper Piecing pads and  Blossom Basics, in all of the warm tones :)   My centers still need work on these, but I am okay with them :)  Maybe by the last ones I will have a perfect center circle ;)

And here are my 12" Paper Piecing Pads and the  Blossom Basics, in cool tones :)  You know these are my favorites right, not just because they are a little easier being larger, but because they have purple!!!!   I shared some helpful hints that I have found while making this post in my Month 1 post that you can find here ;)

The quilt will finish at 64" x 88" so it will be a nice large throw size when complete.   The free pattern for this Quilt Along can be found right here ;)  And my leaders and enders paper piecing cast offs are growing.   This lat time I saved even some of the super tiny pieces, it made for a fun improv block :)

So do you want to work on your paper piecing skills as well??  Pop over the the Vintage Sunburst Quilt Along page to get all of the details and join me in some paper piecing
